Students can access a wide range of financial aid, including government-funded scholarships, non-governmental awards, and institution-specific grants, making Canadian education even more accessible.
Canada Student Visa Requirements: What You Need to Know
Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
This is a mandatory document from a recognized university in Canada or college confirming your admission.
Proof of Sufficient Funds
You must show that you can cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return travel. This can include bank statements, Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs), or sponsorship letters.
Valid Passport
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your intended stay in Canada.
Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL)
Some provinces now require a PAL to confirm that your acceptance is within their international student quota. This is a vital addition to current Canada student visa requirements.
Language Proficiency Test
Most Canada universities for international students require proof of English proficiency, usually through IELTS or TOEFL. Some institutions may allow study in Canada without IELTS, but this is uncommon and comes with specific conditions.
Biometrics Submission
You may be asked to provide fingerprints and a photo at a Visa Application Centre as part of the visa processing steps.
Medical Examination
If your stay is longer than six months or you're from a designated country, a medical exam from a panel physician will be needed.

Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ)
If you plan to study in Quebec, this is a mandatory document in addition to your acceptance letter.
TRV or eTA
Depending on your nationality, you may also require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). These are typically issued automatically once your Canada student visa is approved.
